Pedro Pascal Teams Up With ‘Andor’ Creator for a Mysterious New Film

MOVIE NEWS – After a record-breaking 2025 in film and TV, Pedro Pascal is already eyeing his next big move. Fresh off HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2, plus star turns in Celine Song’s Materialists, Ari Aster’s Eddington, and Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Pascal’s next project pairs him with a celebrated writer-director who just wrapped his critically acclaimed Star Wars series.

Deadline exclusively reports that Tony Gilroy, the mastermind behind Andor, is developing his next feature film—currently titled Behemoth!. Pedro Pascal is in talks to star; while nothing is signed, sources say “things are headed in the right direction.” The role was originally lined up for Oscar Isaac, but he dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Not much is known about Behemoth (or Behemoth!), aside from Gilroy’s hints that it revolves around a cellist and the process of creating music for movies.

Despite the uncertainty around Pascal’s casting, Gilroy’s track record as a storyteller is rock solid—even when working within the constraints of Disney’s Star Wars universe. Andor Season 2 drew rave reviews for its sharp character work and its organic link to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Meanwhile, Pascal is no stranger to Star Wars either, having starred in three seasons of The Mandalorian and recently wrapped filming on The Mandalorian and Grogu.

‘Behemoth!’ Marks Tony Gilroy’s Long-Awaited Return to Feature Films

Behemoth! will be produced and distributed by Searchlight Pictures, which only recently joined the project. While Gilroy was all over Andor as executive producer and writer (eight episodes), he didn’t direct a single installment. In fact, his last directing credit dates back to 2012’s The Bourne Legacy, which he also wrote.

After more than a decade away from the director’s chair, Gilroy’s return to movies is bound to attract attention—especially to see how his style has evolved over thirteen years. The last time he earned major critical acclaim in theaters was with the George Clooney-led legal thriller Michael Clayton, which Gilroy wrote and directed. The genre of Behemoth is still under wraps, with more details likely to surface once the cast is locked and a start date is announced.

With years devoted to Andor, fans are excited to see Gilroy return to the big screen—especially if Pedro Pascal officially signs on. The two have only crossed paths indirectly: Pascal starred in 2016’s The Great Wall, for which Gilroy was a credited screenwriter. Here’s hoping Behemoth is the triumphant comeback fans have been waiting for.
