Death Stranding 2 – Play It Free for a Few Hours If You’re a PS Plus Premium Member

Almost two months after its release, Sony is giving PS Plus Premium members the chance to try Death Stranding 2 for free. Starting in just a few days, you’ll be able to play the game for five hours if you’re subscribed to the highest tier of the service.

If you’ve ever played a Hideo Kojima title, chances are you’re curious about Death Stranding 2. This sequel expands and improves upon the polarizing original, promising an even stranger and more ambitious journey. Best of all, you can test it for several hours without spending a dime, giving you a chance to decide if its bizarre world is for you. Kojima Productions and PS Plus are offering players a trial period to help convince them to take the plunge.

PlayStation has launched a limited-time trial of Death Stranding 2 for PS Plus Premium subscribers on PS5. Starting August 19, 2025, members will have five full hours to explore the game’s world and get comfortable with its mechanics. The promotion will run for a short period and aims to get Hideo Kojima’s latest work into more players’ hands just weeks after launch.

“Don’t miss this chance to experience the game!” wrote Kojima Productions on X/Twitter, encouraging fans to give it a shot. The trial can be found in the “playable trials” section of the PS Plus hub on PS5 and is only available to Premium-tier subscribers. While not officially confirmed, it’s expected that progress made during the trial will carry over if you purchase the full game.

PS Plus Extra and Premium Offer a Strong August Lineup

August’s lineup is looking strong. PS Plus Extra and Premium members this month can enjoy Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Mortal Kombat 1, Harold Halibut, Unicorn Overlord, and more. For classics fans, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis join the already extensive retro catalog. Don’t forget that August 2025’s PS Plus Essential titles, including Lies of P, are also available to claim.
