Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows has stormed the European market, quickly rising to become the best-selling title of 2025. According to GSD, the firm that compiles both physical and digital sales data, the adventures of Naoe and Yasuke stand as one of this year’s biggest releases.
We’ve just crossed the halfway mark of a year filled with major video game launches. Market analysts have been busy tracking player spending and the sales performance of each title. The results reveal that Assassin’s Creed Shadows has firmly established itself as Europe’s top-selling release of 2025, surpassing heavyweights such as Monster Hunter Wilds and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
GSD, which aggregates European sales figures across both physical and digital markets, published its findings through The Game Business. While Assassin’s Creed Shadows has emerged as the most impactful release of 2025, it technically isn’t the single best-selling game on store shelves. That distinction belongs to EA Sports FC 25, which continues to thrive despite having launched back in 2024. Below is the complete Top 20 list for Europe, covering both PC and console results. It’s worth noting that Nintendo’s digital sales are excluded, and no data is available for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 due to its publisher withholding figures from GSD.

But how much has Assassin’s Creed Shadows actually sold? That’s the million-dollar question. Ubisoft has so far avoided releasing hard numbers, choosing instead to highlight that the game has already reached 5 million players (including those accessing it through subscription services like Ubisoft+). Still, the adventure of Naoe and Yasuke hasn’t been a silver bullet for Ubisoft; the company’s most recent financial results have been underwhelming, dragging down its stock performance on the market.
