After nearly a decade, the creators of Kingdom Come: Deliverance have said farewell to Henry’s actor. Tom McKay shared a YouTube video in which several members of Warhorse Studios gave him a standing ovation as he completed his final recording.
Saying goodbye to a character you’ve embodied for years is never easy — and that’s what Tom McKay experienced with Henry, the protagonist of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. For almost ten years, McKay has brought the medieval RPG’s iconic character to life in both main installments and their expansions. But now, after contributing to the development of the latest Kingdom Come, the time has come for him to step away.
McKay enjoys sharing his work through his YouTube channel, and he has often connected with Kingdom Come: Deliverance fans by streaming his own gameplay on Twitch. Continuing this tradition, he uploaded a short video showing how he said goodbye to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The farewell was touching, with members of Warhorse Studios gathering to give McKay a heartfelt ovation for his portrayal of Henry.
The video doesn’t capture all of McKay’s remarks — they were mostly directed toward his longtime colleagues — but it does include an emotional line: “I’ll do my best not to cry.” It’s a clear sign of how much McKay enjoyed his time with Henry and how deeply the studio values his contributions to the character.
Warhorse Studios Could Turn Toward New Stories
So, is this a definitive farewell, or just a temporary goodbye? With Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 still only a few months old, Warhorse Studios has not said anything about a possible third installment. What they have hinted at, however, is moving on from Henry and Hans to tell new stories. This could open the door to fresh plots and characters, though some fans are saddened by the idea. For now, we’ll have to wait for official news to see what the studio’s next move will be.
