Zelda Fans Rejoice: Tears of the Kingdom Prequel Arrives Earlier Than Expected!

Nintendo misled fans about the release date of the Tears of the Kingdom prequel. The new Hyrule Warriors launches earlier than anticipated – arriving on November 6, exclusively for Switch 2.

For months, fans of The Legend of Zelda have been eager to return to Hyrule to uncover what happened before the events of Tears of the Kingdom. The saga’s musou spin-offs have become the perfect gateway to tell stories that don’t fit into the mainline entries, and this time, Princess Zelda takes center stage. Nintendo initially promised that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Banishment would be released in “winter,” but the launch has been moved forward, fueling even greater anticipation.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Banishment Drops in November

During the September 12 Nintendo Direct, it was confirmed that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Banishment will release on Switch 2 on November 6. The new trailer showcased massive Warriors-style battles and introduced “Sync Strikes,” cooperative finishing moves where two allies take down waves of enemies together. It also highlighted the use of Zonai devices to alter battle flow with improvised effects and constructions, further connecting the game to the world and ideas of Tears of the Kingdom.

The biggest innovation is having Zelda as the protagonist, but the game also supports two-player co-op across two consoles, with the added bonus that only one copy of the game is required. This makes sharing the adventure much easier. Following Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, the prequel to Breath of the Wild, fans were eager for another entry, and now the good news is that “Age of Banishment” will arrive on November 6.

Other Nintendo Direct Highlights

Although no new open-world Zelda title was revealed, Nintendo had plenty of surprises, especially for Mario fans. Beyond its own IPs, Capcom announced three new Resident Evil titles for Switch 2, including RE Requiem, slated for late February next year. Another unexpected reveal was Pokémon Pokopia, set to launch in 2026 with a premise similar to Minecraft.
