Real-Life Couple Brings Their Romance to the Big Screen

MOVIE NEWS – Mckenna Grace and Mason Thames, a real-life couple, star together as lovers in a deeply emotional adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, mixing heartbreak, secrets, and hope.

Mckenna Grace (19) and Mason Thames (18) have been officially dating for months, and fans are intrigued to see them playing a couple on screen as well. Regretting You is based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover, an author recently embraced by Hollywood after the success of It Ends with Us, another of her books adapted into a hit film last year.

Regretting You is also a romantic drama, and its quality is underscored by the involvement of Josh Boone, the director who gained acclaim more than a decade ago with the tear-jerking The Fault in Our Stars, a love story about teenagers battling cancer.

The film opens with tragedy: Morgan (Allison Williams – Get Out, M3GAN, M3GAN 2.0) and Clara (Grace) lose both the family patriarch (Scott Eastwood) and Morgan’s brother in a car accident. As they grieve, dark family secrets come to light. The strict, traditional mother must also confront her daughter’s growing desire for independence, made even more complicated by the arrival of a boy (Thames) she disapproves of as a potential family member.

At a recent preview screening in Los Angeles, a crowd of industry insiders and influencers praised the film for its emotional balance. “I loved it — I cried and laughed. It’s the perfect girls’ night movie,” wrote producer Nikki Snook. “It’s flawless in every way, and the soundtrack is outstanding — especially Noah Khan’s song at the end,” said Joyce Louis-Jean of Buzzfeed. “We need more films like this. The cast was phenomenal,” added producer Liza Aristizabal. “It’s a 10/10 for me, and I’ll recommend it to everyone!” said influencer Audrey Given.
