Creative Assembly has acknowledged issues with its latest strategy release and announced a delay to the next DLC. At the same time, the studio plans to reignite fan excitement by unveiling new historical and fantasy titles on December 4, marking the future of Total War.
Creative Assembly has its hands full with the Total War series. Since the 2022 release of Total War: Warhammer 3, the game has sparked numerous controversies — from overpriced DLCs to persistent bugs that have frustrated fans. While the developers are hard at work fixing these issues, they also want to build excitement for the franchise’s future. Alongside an apology and a delay announcement for the next DLC, the team confirmed that new historical and fantasy entries are already in development.
According to an official statement on the studio’s website, Hotfix 6.3.2 has already been released, restoring the AI of the Lizardmen and Tomb Kings to “expected behavior.” However, the team still needs to resolve other AI problems across multiple factions. “We don’t have an update or timeline, but these are being prioritized. The implementation of this hotfix is not the end of our work in this area,” the developers explained.
They also admitted mistakes in prioritization: “We regret that the game entered this state. We recognized the issue but didn’t act quickly enough. We had initially planned to include the fix in the 7.0 update, but going forward, we’ll reclassify priorities to prevent similar issues.” The statement emphasized the studio’s renewed focus on faster responses to problems.
Alongside the fixes, the team announced that the Tides of Torment DLC has been delayed once again, now set to release on December 4. “Tides of Torment brings three fantastic new experiences, and we want the game to be in the best possible condition when it arrives. We’ll use this additional time to further polish the 7.0 update and ensure that the DLC benefits from these improvements,” Creative Assembly wrote.
Creative Assembly Is Preparing Surprises for Total War’s 25th Anniversary
Despite setbacks, Creative Assembly isn’t slowing down. The studio is already gearing up for the 25th anniversary of the Total War franchise on December 4, teasing major announcements. “Alongside the release of our next DLC, we’ll also reveal the future of Total War — new historical and fantasy titles presented by the teams bringing them to life,” the company stated. Fans can expect big news that could mark the start of a new era for the franchise.
