Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon: The “Polish Skyrim” Just Hit a Million Copies Sold – And It’s Still Growing

The so-called “Polish Skyrim”, , has become such a hit with fans of fantasy RPGs and open worlds that its developers have reached a major new sales milestone. Questline released a DLC last December. Since launch, the game has now sold over one million copies.

So many video games launched in 2025 that keeping track of them all felt borderline impossible. Yet Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon still managed to rise above the noise, thanks to a bold and striking reinvention of Arthurian legend that instantly clicked with fans of fantasy RPGs and open-world exploration. And that success hasn’t only shown up in community praise, it has also turned into serious commercial momentum for the team at Questline.

In a statement shared on Steam, the Poland-based studio confirmed that Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon has already surpassed one million copies sold. The best part is that the number is likely to keep climbing, because the developers are marking the milestone with a 20% discount on both the base RPG and its latest DLC, Sanctuary of Sarras. It’s the kind of offer many players will gladly use as an excuse to dive into a world locked in eternal autumn.

Because it’s genuinely hard to ignore the pull of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. Questline built its RPG on the myths surrounding King Arthur, but it doesn’t play it safe: it leans into dark fantasy, brutal vibes, and creatures that seem perfectly happy to try and skin the protagonist alive. That’s why plenty of players have started calling it a “Polish Skyrim”, since even if it doesn’t match Bethesda’s scale, it does capture that addictive sense of discovery and surprise that the genre often struggles to deliver. In a Steam review, Brunoborne sums it up like this: “It feels like a Black Metal Skyrim, but with a really good and fun combat system and great feedback.”

Another player, dj2ca, adds: “I’ve been looking for a decent RPG to get lost in, and this one really fills that need. Think The Elder Scrolls, but on a smaller budget.” At the time of writing, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon sits at an 88% “Very Positive” rating. That score comes from more than 24,300 user reviews.

A New DLC Expands the Base Game With Around 15 More Hours

According to HowLongToBeat, a standard run of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon clocks in at roughly 30 hours, while a 100% completion takes a bit over 63 hours. However, Questline recently expanded its autumn-soaked world with the DLC mentioned above, Sanctuary of Sarras. This isn’t a minor add-on: the developers created a submerged realm where Sarras and his crew of rebel sailors have been hidden for 600 years, adding roughly 15 extra hours to the overall experience.
