All Parts Connected and TinyBuild have announced the release date for the city builder, although it probably won’t be available on consoles later on.
It is a post-apocalyptic city builder where every structure can collapse. Players must master a unique, physics-based, 3D construction system to create a sprawling, vertical settlement on water. They must also scavenge for resources, explore the ocean, and ensure the survival of their colony by making difficult yet necessary decisions. The world is dying and has been overtaken by the endless ocean. You are the leader of a small group of survivors stranded on a rusty boat. You find a small land area solid enough to serve as a foundation for buildings. Now, step by step, you will build a city. This city will reach the sky, weather many storms, and become a home for the last remnants of humanity. For your people.
The game’s physics-based building mechanic challenges you to consider real-world construction aspects when designing your intricate, multi-level city in three dimensions. Though easy to grasp, this unique system adds deeper simulation elements and greater creative freedom to the city-building sandbox. This allows you to bring numerous vertical city design ideas to life. As you build, it’s as if you’re playing Jenga, but with human lives at stake. Each structure can crumble, so you must provide enough support and find creative ways to use different building materials. However, there is a high-risk, high-reward aspect to it. For instance, you can find various ways to access valuable resource nodes by constructing elaborate bridges or ladders. Alternatively, you can save space for production by stacking housing quarters on top of each other. If you fail, you can revert the state of the building to before the collapse and fix your mistakes to avoid tragic consequences – at least on lower difficulties!
In addition to building and maintaining the city, you will manage a colony of survivors. As their leader, you must navigate the wants and needs of several factions: Engineers, Sailors, and Workers. Each faction has its own unique traits. For instance, only Engineers can operate cranes, and only Sailors can navigate boats, which makes gathering resources and managing logistics easier. Sometimes, you will have to make difficult yet necessary decisions to lead your people to prosperity. Should you try to feed every mouth generously, or be strict with food rationing? You can establish martial law during times of unrest or show mercy and let people voice their frustrations. You will go down in history as either a benevolent shepherd or a strong-handed tyrant, as long as the city prevails.
Each colony you build will face unique challenges, foundation layouts, circumstances, and random events, such as storms, mysterious structures emerging from the ocean, political coups, unexpected newcomers, food shortages, and more. Learn from your mistakes, unlock new locations on the global map, and embark on the next dangerous adventure once the inevitable calamity comes to destroy the city.
All Will Fall will be released on April 3 for PC.
