Nintendo marked March 10, Mario Day, by announcing that Yoshi and the Mysterious Book will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on May 21, 2026. The final trailer for Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie also revealed who will be voicing Yoshi on the big screen.
It is March 10, and Nintendo dressed up for the occasion to celebrate Mario Day. The Japanese company has dominated conversations over the past few hours thanks to the release of the final trailer for Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie, but now it wants to steer the discussion back toward its games by confirming that one of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives will not keep players waiting long. We are talking about Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, a colorful and imaginative platforming adventure starring the little green dinosaur, which will launch on May 21, 2026.
The title was presented at the September 2025 Nintendo Direct as one of the many adventures set in the Super Mario universe heading to the company’s new hybrid console. While it does not feature the plumber as its protagonist, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book invites players to discover the quirks of a fantasy world through an original platforming experience packed with puzzles. A proposition that, as seen in the trailer, will stand out for its environments and its adorable moments.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is set on Yoshi’s Island, where a mysterious ancient book lands that, for some reason, cannot remember or read what is written on its pages. The Yoshis therefore join forces to help this enigmatic character through particular interactions and experiments across all kinds of levels. What does a creature that blows bubbles taste like? What happens if you touch a snail? What if you carry a Shy Guy on your back? At its core, this is an innocent game that encourages players to interact with the environment and learn curious facts in a dreamlike world, which will undoubtedly appeal to those looking for a family adventure or a relaxed experience to enjoy on the sofa.
Donald Glover Will Voice Yoshi in Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie
Although today is Mario Day, Yoshi has received a fair share of the spotlight through both the new Yoshi and the Mysterious Book trailer and his latest appearance in the final trailer for Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie. While it was already known that the dinosaur would feature in this new production, the latest Nintendo Direct revealed the voice actor who will bring the character to life on the big screen. A Hollywood star, no less, as Nintendo has held nothing back and placed that responsibility in the hands of Donald Glover (Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Troy Barnes in Community).
