Bloodborne: The Animated Movie Has a Producer Who Is Literally Marked by the Game

The announcement of an animated Bloodborne movie was already surprising on its own, but the project became even more interesting once people realized one of its producers is someone the fanbase already knows very well. Seán McLoughlin, better known online as Jacksepticeye, is attached as an executive producer, and he is making it very clear that, for him, this is not just another credit on a resume.

Sony Pictures announced the animated Bloodborne adaptation during CinemaCon 2026. The project is set to be R-rated, which strongly suggests the studio has no intention of sanding down the game’s gothic violence, blood-soaked horror, or grotesque atmosphere. The film is being developed with PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation, while McLoughlin is stepping in as one of the producers. That alone was enough to make fans both curious and instantly cautious.

McLoughlin, however, wasted no time addressing the community directly. According to him, his involvement has nothing to do with money and everything to do with finally being close to a project he has a real emotional connection to. He has spent more than 700 hours playing Bloodborne, has long been one of the game’s most visible YouTube superfans, and even has the Hunter’s Mark tattooed on his arm. So when he says this feels like what he was put on this earth to do, it does not come off like empty promo talk.

He Is Not Directing It, but He Could Still Matter a Great Deal

McLoughlin also made it clear that being a producer does not mean he is writing the script or directing the movie. Even so, the role still gives him a chance to be present around the creative direction of the adaptation and, at the very least, fight for what makes Bloodborne special. He has described the game as the pinnacle of video game experiences, and that level of obsession may actually be a good thing here. A property like this would be very easy to flatten into generic dark fantasy if the wrong people took over.

That said, there is still a lot we do not know. There is no confirmed director, no confirmed screenwriter, no cast, and no release date. Since the movie has only just been officially announced, it would be optimistic to expect anything substantial before 2028. Until then, the real question is whether Sony is aiming to make an actual Bloodborne film or just another game adaptation with the right logo on it. The difference matters, and fans will notice immediately if the studio gets it wrong.
