Scary Movie Knows Exactly Who It Wants to Offend This Summer

MOVIE NEWS – The creators of Scary Movie are already apologizing in advance to everyone who will feel offended by their new horror spoof. Then again, provoking that exact reaction was part of the plan this time too. Twenty-five years ago, brothers Marlon and Shawn Wayans launched the cult franchise with a clear mission to smash taboos, and with this new chapter in the series, they say they are going back to those roots.

Joining the two Wayans brothers on stage in Las Vegas at CinemaCon was franchise veteran Anna Faris, where the team made it clear that Scary Movie really is not going to spare anyone.

“We’d like to apologize in advance to everyone who gets offended – or who no longer even gets offended anymore – while watching our movie,” Marlon Wayans said right out of the gate. “And those people are the following: white people, Black people, off-white people, Mexicans, Asians, the entire population of Vermont, Diddy, Diddy’s maid, and baby oil in general.”

The off-white joke referred to lower-status Eastern European immigrants and their descendants. The Vermont reference played on the stereotype of locals as slightly eccentric people with a fondness for things like artisanal products. As for Sean Diddy Combs, the pop star is currently serving a prison sentence related to organizing prostitution and other crimes. A flood of memes also emerged after commercial quantities of baby oil were reportedly found in his house, which he claimed were not meant for illegal sex parties.
