Ubisoft’s game will not put visible blood behind a paywall, so players will not have to buy it separately as DLC.
If we were vampires, we would probably agree that two of the most beautiful words in the language are “free blood.” And if you watched the latest Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced footage and were bothered by the absence of cherry syrup, or tomato sauce, then this will be especially welcome news: the game will indeed feature blood, and it will be free. Ubisoft Singapore producer Justin Ng responded on Twitter to fan concerns that the game’s violence had been toned down. On Thursday, he said there were a few things he wanted to clarify quickly, hopefully without getting himself into trouble. The final game will include blood, and it will not be sold as paid DLC. The team has heard the feedback about the combat VFX and audio cues, and they are toning those down.
If anyone was wondering where the topic came from, players spent last week voicing concerns on social media, worried that combat in the new game looked too clean. On Reddit, one user said they hoped the cartoonish sparks that appear during combat would either be removed or at least changed. Another said they hoped Ubisoft would add blood. Assassin’s Creed Shadows already features fairly satisfying blood effects, so it would feel strange if this game had removed them altogether.
Even if it is impossible to judge an entire game from a few short clips, it is perfectly natural that people are closely examining the combat. Reworking the combat system is one of the remake’s biggest draws, so without the multiplayer mode that used to complement the experience, it is hard to say how attractive Resynced would remain without strong swordplay. Ng also reassured fans that the systems outside combat should still feel familiar. Asked whether social stealth would return, he simply replied that it remains in the game, suggesting that the remake will stay faithful to the original.
That is bound to be good news for fans of what many still consider the most adventurous Assassin’s Creed entry. And while the idea of selling blood as paid DLC may sound ridiculous, there is precedent for exactly that sort of thing. Dawn of War 2 already did it.

A few things to quickly address I guess (without getting into trouble hopefully)
There WILL be blood in the final game, and it will not be a paid DLC.
We hear the feedback on the VFX and audio cues on fight. It’s being toned down.
