Martin Scorsese And Oscar Isaac Are Teaming Up For A Netflix Casino Thriller

MOVIE NEWS – Oscar Isaac is set to lead another high-profile Netflix series, and this time Martin Scorsese is also attached behind the scenes. The currently untitled Las Vegas thriller will take viewers into a modern, ruthless casino world, with Isaac playing Bobby Red, the president of a major hotel casino.

Oscar Isaac’s television career is not slowing down. The actor is now attached to another major Netflix project, continuing a creative run with the platform that has already given him several high-profile credits. He first starred in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein as Dr. Frankenstein, before joining the second season of BEEF. The A24 co-production returned as an anthology with a new story built around sharp performances and a tense conflict, while Isaac has clearly become one of the streamer’s more valuable prestige names.

According to Deadline’s exclusive report, Isaac is continuing that Netflix streak with a high-stakes series set around a Las Vegas casino. The currently untitled Vegas project comes from Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who previously worked as writers and executive producers on Billions and Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber. J. C. Chandor, the filmmaker behind Triple Frontier and Kraven the Hunter, is reportedly directing the first two episodes, while the project gains an even bigger name with Martin Scorsese on board as executive producer.

This is only one of Isaac’s Netflix-related deals, as the actor is also close to signing an overall agreement with the streamer. Under that arrangement, Netflix would receive first-look rights to film and television projects from Mad Gene, the production company founded by Isaac, Elvira Lind, and Gena Konstantinakos. That means Netflix subscribers may be seeing much more of Isaac in the coming years, whether he is producing projects behind the scenes or starring in titles developed through Mad Gene.

Netflix’s untitled Vegas series is planned as an eight-episode drama, with Deadline describing it as being set in the high-stakes, sharp-elbowed casino business of present-day Las Vegas, “a modernized but still dangerous version of the legendary city.” At the center of the story is Robert “Bobby Red” Redman, the president of the hottest hotel casino in town, who has to make long-odds moves to secure his position and take more ground.

Scorsese’s executive producer role is hardly surprising, given the filmmaker’s history with crime stories built around similar worlds, most notably his 1995 film Casino. Isaac’s Netflix projects have not disappointed so far, and the actor’s reunion with Chandor is also promising after their earlier work together on Triple Frontier and A Most Violent Year. The untitled Vegas series does not have a release date yet, but with so much of the creative team already in place, a 2027 window would not be an unreasonable target.
