Blizzard’s game is sure to make an appearance on Nintendo’s hybrid platform, released last June.
Will Diablo IV eventually be available on the Nintendo Switch 2? New evidence suggests so. The Taiwanese ratings board has rated the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, specifically the expansion titled Lord of Hatred. This happened in late April, but it either went unnoticed or was only recently made publicly available in the database. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the possibility of Diablo IV coming to Nintendo platforms. You may recall a similar listing in April that referred to the original Nintendo Switch.
While this is purely speculation, we would guess that it’s much more likely Diablo IV will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 than the original Switch. The porting process would be much easier if the team only had to consider the latest Nintendo platform. After all, the Switch has been out for over nine years, lags behind the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in performance, and is not capable of keeping pace with those two consoles, while the Switch 2 is.
Rod Fergusson, who left Blizzard last year after previously overseeing the Diablo series, said that a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Diablo IV would be worth considering. Keep in mind that a rating does not automatically confirm future plans. However, given that two ratings have already been released for this game on Nintendo consoles, this could be a sign of things to come.
The only questions now are when it will be announced and when it will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2. One of the announcements at BlizzCon could be that Diablo IV is coming to the Switch 2. As for the release date, we won’t venture a guess. It could be a surprise release, a shadowdrop. Whatever happens, everything will surely come to light in time.
