The finale of the remake trilogy will feature unexpected characters, so Square Enix is clearly pulling out all the stops.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the third and final chapter of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII remake series, and fans are eager to find out what surprises await them in this concluding installment. According to director Naoki Hamaguchi, some of those surprises will involve the appearance of characters from Final Fantasy VII spin-off titles. This came to light during a Q&A session in Shanghai, where fans had the opportunity to ask the director questions about the upcoming game. While discussing who might appear in Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Hamaguchi did not confirm any specific characters, but he gave an example that drew attention.

“Well, it is not appropriate to say whether Cissnei will appear or not at this point, but there is one thing I can tell you. This Final Fantasy VII remake series is not simply a recreation of the original work. Our goal is to create a new, independent Final Fantasy VII that incorporates the worlds and concepts of all previous spin-off titles, such as Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, and Crisis Core. That is why Cissnei’s appearance and the inclusion of Dirge of Cerberus soldiers in the DLC are also part of that meaning. Since this concept will naturally carry over into Revelation, and is not limited to Cissnei alone, characters from the various Final Fantasy VII compilation games will also appear in the final chapter. Each of those characters has a large and devoted fanbase, so we want to create a work that satisfies those people’s expectations” – Hamaguchi said.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation was officially announced during Summer Game Fest and was one of the biggest announcements of the entire June week. The game will launch in spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
