Epic Games and a Notorious Fortnite Leaker Have Reached a Settlement in Court!

The individual sued in March by Tim Sweeney’s company has now reached an agreement with his former employer after allegedly leaking a significant amount of Fortnite information.

Epic Games has reached a settlement with a former contractor whom it accused in March of being the notorious Fortnite leaker AdiraFN.

Under the agreement, the defendant will be permanently prohibited from possessing, accessing, using, or disclosing any confidential or trade-secret information belonging to Epic. He will also be barred from helping others do the same.

Epic filed its lawsuit in March, alleging that AdiraFN, who leaked information about numerous Fortnite collaborations before their official announcements, was actually Hayden Cohen, a former Fortnite contractor.

Cohen signed a non-disclosure agreement, or NDA, as required under the terms of his contract, but Epic says he later did exactly the opposite of what he promised. The company alleges that he repeatedly misappropriated Epic trade secrets and disclosed them publicly through anonymous X and Discord accounts.

Epic confirmed the proposed settlement in a statement to PC Gamer.

“We took legal action against the former contractor who repeatedly leaked confidential partner IP and trade secrets that they received while working with Epic. We’ve asked the court to approve the stipulated injunction to ensure they cannot publish or share Epic’s confidential information again.” said Epic Games director of corporate communications Natalie Munoz.

The proposed settlement refers only to the injunction issued against Cohen and makes no mention of financial penalties. That is notable because Epic sought damages in its original complaint, including actual losses, unjust enrichment, attorneys’ fees, and other costs.

Epic has previously filed multiple lawsuits against Fortnite cheaters and won monetary damages from them. According to Munoz, however, the company has no further information about this case.

A judge must now approve the proposed settlement.
