Will Microsoft Place the Halo Franchise Under Activision Blizzard? [VIDEO]

Microsoft, which is expected to soon announce the extent of layoffs under the Xbox brand, may be preparing for another major change.

The Halo series has faced a string of problems under the leadership of 343 Industries, now known as Halo Studios, ranging from toxic leadership to development issues. The future of the series is in jeopardy, and Xbox’s iconic shooter must take significant steps to regain its former glory. However, no one expected such a radical turn of events. According to the latest rumor, Xbox plans to place Halo under the Activision Blizzard umbrella in the future. Reliable Xbox insider Jez Corden heard this rumor in connection with the new leadership’s plans to revitalize its struggling flagship franchises, including Halo.

In the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast, Corden explains that Xbox aims to reorganize Halo so the series can realize its untapped potential from its classic era. The most recent installments of the series, under the direction of Halo Studios, have repeatedly fallen short of expectations. Xbox undoubtedly considers this radical change necessary to get the IP back on track. Corden heard the rumor that Halo might be placed under Activision’s umbrella and said that they are exploring these kinds of possibilities: How could Halo be restructured to reach its full potential?

Xbox is keeping a close eye on Activision Blizzard’s management of its projects because of its consistent pace and stability over the years. Management reportedly believes that Halo could operate similarly to a Blizzard franchise. However, this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, as Corden has not yet confirmed these reports.

The current team is reportedly developing several other projects in the series alongside Halo: Campaign Evolved, including a new mainline installment and several remakes.
