According to Elon Musk, the Head of OpenAI Will Soon End Up in Jail!

TECH NEWS – He accuses Sam Altman of stealing Apple’s technology and a charity project.

Now that Apple has taken legal action against OpenAI, Elon Musk is using the resulting social media frenzy to take a few jabs at his number one rival, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The history of animosity between Musk and Altman is long and messy. Their latest dispute began after Apple filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing it of stealing proprietary technology, circuit designs, and component architecture for upcoming consumer AI devices. According to Apple, more than 400 former Apple employees have joined OpenAI. The iPhone maker’s former vice president of design, Tang Tan, reportedly encouraged Apple employees applying for jobs at OpenAI to bring Apple hardware components and prototypes to their interviews.

This development was a godsend for Musk, who told Altman that he had taken deception to a whole new level. Altman fired back, suggesting that Musk was trying to win over stock market investors with short-term space-based data centers. Musk, who never leaves a jab unanswered, then thoroughly berated Altman: “We start flying them next year. Maybe you can come see them if your parole officer approves. After stealing an open-source AI charity, you stole all of Apple’s phone technology! Wow. What do you have planned for your encore? That’s tough to beat.”

Essentially, Musk has declared that SpaceX’s ambitious satellite data center project will enter the implementation phase next year. He also strongly implied that Altman will be in prison by then. SpaceX recently unveiled its first satellite designed specifically for AI computing. Called AI1, this satellite can support up to 150 kW of peak computing power. It is equipped with liquid cooling, meteorite shields, a central computing module, and deployable solar panels. The satellites will be manufactured at SpaceX’s Gigasat facility in Texas. The feud between Musk and Altman is of historic significance. It dates back to the founding of OpenAI, when Musk was the primary financier of the nonprofit organization. Unsatisfied with the nonprofit’s progress, Musk tried to take control of OpenAI in 2018, but Altman and the board rejected his bid. Musk then resigned from the nonprofit in a fit of rage.

Later, after Altman began pushing to transform OpenAI into a for-profit company, Musk filed a lawsuit against Altman and OpenAI. The defendants prevailed on technical grounds; the court ruled that Musk had waited too long to file the lawsuit.
