MOVIE NEWS – Pierce Brosnan’s 2023 action thriller Fast Charlie has reached Netflix’s global chart nearly three years after failing in theaters. The compact 90-minute crime movie is now drawing millions of streaming viewers.

Charlie Swift is a seasoned contract killer and former Marine who has spent years working for Stan, an aging Biloxi mob boss. After a rival crew wipes out the organization, Charlie survives and sets out to avenge his employer and friend, eventually relying on the help of Marcie Kramer.

Phillip Noyce’s film balances gunfights with dialogue and morally complicated character work. Morena Baccarin stars alongside Brosnan, while James Caan plays Stan in what became the last completed movie role of his career.

Made for approximately $16 million, Fast Charlie entered theaters in December 2023 but earned only around $260,000 worldwide. Its reception was far healthier than its ticket sales: Rotten Tomatoes lists an 84% critics score and a 78% audience rating.

Netflix gives Fast Charlie a long-delayed second chance

Between August 3 and 9, 2026, the thriller climbed to number ten on Netflix’s global movie chart. The service recorded 2.6 million views and 3.9 million hours watched, exposing the movie to an audience far larger than the one it found during its theatrical run.

The turnaround demonstrates how a brisk, mid-budget action film can be rediscovered years after release. Brosnan’s restrained performance as a veteran fixer and Caan’s farewell appearance provide additional reasons for viewers to seek it out.
