MOVIE NEWS – Ewan McGregor says he is ready to become Obi-Wan Kenobi again, with the Disney+ series finale leaving a clear path for another chapter. The actor remains eager to explore the missing years between his version of the Jedi and Alec Guinness’s older hermit.

The 2022 Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series was conceived as a self-contained story, but calls for a continuation have never disappeared. Speaking to E! News at the premiere of The End of Oak Street, McGregor made it clear that he would accept either another season or a feature film if Lucasfilm invited him back.

“I’m ready whenever they are. I love playing him, I love that character, and the ending of the series leaves it open,” McGregor said. He pointed to Obi-Wan setting out with Qui-Gon Jinn’s Force ghost in the finale, an ending that already supplies a natural starting point for a new adventure.

Ten unexplored years still separate McGregor from Alec Guinness

McGregor believes there is substantial room between the Disney+ era and the Jedi audiences meet in A New Hope. By his estimate, his Obi-Wan is still roughly a decade younger than Guinness’s version, leaving Lucasfilm plenty of time in which to tell stories without colliding with the original film.

Lucasfilm’s theatrical direction has remained uneven since The Rise of Skywalker, and this year’s The Mandalorian and Grogu failed to fully restore the brand’s momentum. Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling’s Starfighter is also in development, but the return of a familiar and popular Jedi would still carry obvious appeal.

No second season or movie has been announced for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Yet McGregor’s enthusiasm has not faded, and the first series deliberately stopped at a point where another story could begin without undoing its conclusion.
