Guns of Eschaton: Viktor Antonov’s final work is coming out this year! [VIDEO]

Eschatology Entertainment and 4Divinity won’t make us wait until 2028 for the game, though a delay to 2027 is still possible.

Shaped by the artistic vision of Half-Life 2 and Dishonored art director Viktor Antonov, Guns of Eschaton is being developed by an international team of veteran developers. It offers a distinctive take on the first-person shooter and Soulslike genres. Rather than simply combining familiar mechanics, Guns of Eschaton is being built as a unique experience that brings together the precision and immediacy of first-person shooters with the deliberate combat, exploration, progression, and crafting of Soulslike games—all within an original apocalyptic Western universe.

In Guns of Eschaton, every bullet counts, including the ones you don’t fire. Players must study their opponents, but they will never know enough to feel safe. Old-fashioned guns may replace swords, and a demonic train may replace a dragon, but the philosophy remains: understanding your opponent is just as important as mastering your own arsenal. A deep progression and crafting system gives players the freedom to develop their own approach to the apocalypse. Firearms, different types of ammunition, occult abilities, talismans, armor, consumables, and active and passive skills can be combined into highly individualized builds, providing different solutions to the world’s challenges. There is no single way to become a legendary gunslinger.

You don’t have to face the apocalypse alone. Although Guns of Eschaton was designed as a solo experience, cooperative play offers a different way to experience the journey, adding another layer of replayability. Playing together introduces a new rhythm to the game and different strategies and tactics for shared survival. The challenge and story remain, but sharing the journey changes the experience. Acclaimed worldbuilder and art director Viktor Antonov shaped the distinctive visual identity of Guns of Eschaton. Antonov’s work helped define the worlds of Half-Life 2 and Dishonored, among other celebrated titles. Collaborating with Eschatology Entertainment’s international team of seasoned developers and artists, Antonov developed a visual language where architecture, environments, characters, narrative, and game design are closely intertwined.

The result is a handcrafted world that transforms the familiar imagery of the 19th-century American frontier through occult horror, mythology, religion, history, and the supernatural. Players may recognize the Wild West from films, books, and popular culture, but it is now burning in the flames of the apocalypse. Rather than simply providing a backdrop for combat, the world itself is part of the experience. Exploration, environmental storytelling, encounters, and player decisions gradually reveal what happened to this frontier and the player’s role in its fate.

Engage in deliberate, high-stakes gunfights where preparation is as important as aim. Study your enemies in the Codex to find their weaknesses. Master precise timing and calculated parries. Wield mystic abilities granted by the occult. Create your own playstyle through deep character progression and flexible build crafting. Experiment with a vast arsenal of firearms, ammunition types, occult powers, talismans, armor, and consumables. Combine active and passive abilities to discover powerful synergies and learn deadly tricks from legendary gunslingers. The familiar principles of two established genres are rebuilt around one combat philosophy. Precision shooting, weapon mastery, enemy knowledge, resource management, timing, and build crafting come together to create a first-person shooter in which pulling the trigger is rarely the only solution.

Journey from East to West through a world shaped by Viktor Antonov’s distinctive art direction. Nineteenth-century frontier Americana collides with occult horror, mythology, religion, and the supernatural as the Old West burns in the apocalypse. Different players can approach the world and its challenges in very different ways through weapons, abilities, equipment, builds, exploration, and player choices. Experience the complete journey alone or with a partner in cooperative play. Full progression allows players to tackle the challenges of the dying world. Alone, it is a personal test of mastery. Together, it becomes a different experience built around coordination and shared survival.

Guns of Eschaton will be released this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
