Last week, the studio surprised fans worldwide with the release of Crimson Desert Enhanced, a free update for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC versions of the game. The update addressed the game’s biggest shortcoming: the way the story was presented. However, the Korean studio isn’t done surprising players and potential new fans, as it has released a new demo that is available immediately and doesn’t require a download. It has also released a new patch that fixes an issue related to the new story content in the Enhanced edition.

Pearl Abyss released a new Crimson Desert demo on Twitch, enabling players to experience the massive open-world game on PC immediately without downloading a large file. The 20-minute, time-limited demo takes place in a later chapter of the game and allows players to play as Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka, whose skill trees are almost fully unlocked. The game’s combat system can become quite complex, with an abundance of special moves and various button combinations. Newcomers may feel overwhelmed, but I think Pearl Abyss made the right decision because the combat system is one of the game’s strongest points. Although the demo doesn’t require a download, only those with a fast internet connection will be able to fully enjoy it. Poor image quality due to compression can significantly detract from the game’s stunning visuals.

In addition to unveiling the new cloud-based demo, Pearl Abyss released a new update for Crimson Desert across all platforms. Update 2.00.02 is smaller in size than previous updates and fixes lip-sync issues in the new story content. It also resolves a few minor bugs. It partially fixes character lip movements in certain cutscenes and resolves the bug that caused the controls to become unresponsive while using the small crane in Karin Quarry. The update also fixes the bug that forced characters to dismount if they collided with a traveling merchant while riding a horse. While the lip-sync issues do not significantly impact Crimson Desert Enhanced, their quick resolution demonstrates Pearl Abyss‘s commitment to its game and the advantages of working with a game powered by the Blackspace Engine, which was created specifically for it.

Hopefully, the Korean studio will maintain this approach for the upcoming DLC, which may be set in a maritime environment.
