The Witcher 3 Remastered Should Run Smoothly on Steam Deck, Developers Say

CD Projekt says The Witcher 3 Remastered should run on Steam Deck with performance similar to the current version. The developers are also promising a much sharper visual presentation without compromising the handheld experience.

Jakub Kutrzuba, CD Projekt’s executive producer of externally developed projects, said the new edition is expected to run on Steam Deck much like the game does today. The main difference should be visual quality, with upgraded assets and textures making the world noticeably more detailed.

According to Kutrzuba, the new rendering engine improves the efficiency of several existing systems. That creates a performance budget for richer graphics without sacrificing the game’s fundamental speed or stability.

The same principle is expected to apply to the Nintendo Switch 2 version. On both handheld platforms, the goal is to modernize The Witcher 3 while preserving predictable and reliable performance.

The Witcher 3 Remastered will arrive as a free update and will include new content alongside its enhanced assets. A release date has not yet been announced, but the comments suggest that Steam Deck and Switch 2 support are already central to the technical planning.
