DICE‘s latest game, Star Wars Battlefront launched on Tuesday on PS4, PC and Xbox One. The Frostbite engine-using shooter became an instant success on Sony’s console. Although we were expecting this to happen, we did not predict that there would be any similar result like what DICE and Electronic Arts have published.
There are more PS4 players of Battlefront than on Xbox One and PC combined! That is not a joke: at one point, 98254 active players were on the PS4 version of the game, while the Xbox One had 50573, and the PC port had 19889 players. Even the 24-hour peak numbers show a PS4-dominance: PS4: 18726, Xbox One: 110817, PC: 49871. No matter how we roll the numbers around, the PS4 always comes out on the top.
This is because the PS4 had way more sales than the Xbox One, plus the agreement between Sony and Electronic Arts resulted in a PS4 bundle and a limited PS4 limited bundle for Battlefront – both of them came with the bonus of the surprise PS2-emulation.
We didn’t even mention that the game looks better on the PS4, and the framerate is almost constantly 60 frames per second.
