This time around, a bigger name in the gaming scene has talked about the affairs between Hideo Kojima and Konami. He’s Yoichi Wada, a former Square Enix boss – he talked about this subject on his Facebook page. This is Kotaku’s translation of his post:
„As I know Mr. Hideo Kojima, I want to say, ‘I can’t believe this cruel treatment!’ But, here I’m going to give my thoughts as a corporate exec. However you think about this, this is a negative for business.
Maybe leaving the home console market is management’s plan, but going out of your way to make enemies with the world has no meaning. Usually, this kind of thing happens when there’s a lack of leadership. I think, perhaps, there isn’t someone in charge who is paying attention and laying out all the little details for the whole enterprise. When you are not aware that the feelings of your department aren’t aligned with the world at large, the results can be deplorable.”
And that’s all. Yoichi Wada‘s post perfectly explains that he sided with Hideo Kojima – if someone big in the scene (and a Japanese person, no less!) has such an opinion, that just destroys Konami’s reputation even further. We’re just nodding in agreement.
