Overkill’s The Walking Dead is delayed even further!

So far, we saw two The Walking Dead games on consoles. First, Telltale‘s episodic adventure (based upon the comics) was released; it was excellent, although the second season wasn’t as emotionally powerful as the first one. We’ve been waiting for the sequel for a long time. Instead, Telltale develops the Michionne miniseries. Then, there was Terminal Reality’s Survival Instinct. It was acting as a prequel to the TV-series. This game was sub-par due to especially being underdeveloped in a few aspects.

Starbreeze and Overkill (Payday’s publisher and dev, respectively) announced another The Walking Dead game over a year ago. They’d like to create a survival horror FPS title with the license. It was planned to be out in 2016. However, it got delayed to 2017. It’s because the new deal with Korean publisher Smilegate: they paid 40 million dollars. In return, Smilegate wants to expand their Crossfire title to the Western markets with a coop-focused game. Starbreeze can now publish their games on Smilegate’s platform in Asia as part of the deal.

Hopefully, we won’t receive a weak game after years of development. Overkill isn’t a group that pushes out a sub-par release, though.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
