Yakuza 5, which launched three years in the West after the initial release in Japan, was one of the best cases to show how not to localize your Japanese game to the Western audience. Thankfully, SEGA tries to speed up a little bit with the next installment in the series.
Yakuza 0 launched a little over a year ago in Japan on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. During the PSX last year, the game was confirmed to receive a US release. Yesterday, it was followed up by a release window and the EU launch confirmation, too. The prequel story from 1988 will be available in both North America and Europe in early 2017. However, if you were planning to get the game on the PS3, prepare to be disappointed: the trend follows. Only the PS4 version will be translated into English!
Let’s hope that we don’t have to wait multiple months compared to the initial release window this time. Yakuza 5 pulled the same thing off in 2015. At least, SEGA created a trailer – called Legends – for the announcement.
