Uncharted 4: Pushing Technical Boundaries [VIDEO]

Naughty Dog doesn’t want to end their Uncharted-era with a whimper. Developing for the PlayStation 4 provides more possibilities than for the PS3 and the devs seem to have multiple aces up their sleeves for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Naughty Dog shows some examples with the first episode of their developer diary. The episode is called „Pushing Technical Boundaries Part 1” – it’s ominous, isn’t it? A Thief’s End has no less than ten times more of playable space than the previous entries on the PlayStation 3. As Drake can solve the levels and their challenges in multiple ways, creative solutions will reap the rewards.

Cutscenes also play an important aspect. Naughty Dog didn’t want just to switch from gameplay to cutscenes with black screens – instead, they are mixed with in-game scenes. (This was already used in The Nathan Drake Collection to save space on the Blu-ray. Therefore, all three PS3 games were included.)

The devs also recorded their facial expressions and body movements of Nolan North, Troy Baker and Emily Rose to have more realism for Nathan, Sam and Elena, respectively.

The dev diary series starts out on a high note; we’re eager to see the other two episodes. The game is out on May 10, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
