MOVIE NEWS – Bento Box Entertainment has joined with Dan Aykroyd and Judy Belushi, James Belushi’s widow for a prime time animated series which is based on the iconic Blues Brothers.
The Blues Brothers are not only but this time, Jake Blues also lives! Yes, Blues Brothers originator Dan Aykroyd and Judy Belushi have teamed up with Bento Box Entertainment (the company behind Bob’s Burgers) for a brand new half-hour animated prime time comedy adventure series, which will be sold to various USA TV networks starting this month. But most exciting is the fact that the very music in the show will have a more important place, than the action and comedy.
The Blues Brothers TV shows are co-created and produced by the original Blues Brother actor Dan Aykroyd, Judy Belushi and the Emmy-winning original Saturday Night Live writer Anne Beatts. Every half-hour will be dedicated to the music, surpassing the mayhem and comedy first seen in the original 1980 movie and its 1998 sequel.
Jake and Elwood Blues will bring together their infamous Blues Brothers band, taking their act on the road. Their home base will be still Chicago, and the soul, blues and R&B classics are still the pillar of the narrative. The music is defined as the third main character in the animated comedy according to Deadline.
Every episode will contain its score and soundtrack curated with iconic classic tunes and original Blues Brothers numbers. And the show will have all-new performances recorded by the original Blues Brothers orchestra along with various guest musicians and performers.
“The show will be the Blues Brothers living in America and utilizing all new technology to make and promote their records, seek out and record new artists and avoid law enforcement – and all while fighting for truth, justice, and a better breakfast sandwich,” commented the star Dan Aykroyd.
