SEGA Fes had a few announcements – it would be one of them.
SEGA confirmed on Twitter that Shenmue I and II (which originally launched on Dreamcast in 2000 and 2001, respectively) is going to be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and in Japan, the open-world, RPG element-filled games will be PS4-exclusive.
Shenmue, which also brought in those QTEs (quick time events – push the button fast enough; examples: Resident Evil 4, Telltale games, etc.), will become complete (so far) this year. Maybe this is why YS Net has delayed Shenmue III’s launch to the second half of 2018 to have enough time to bring back the first two games as well? Clever… Shenmue I & II will have an updated user interface, an option to choose between the classic and the modern control scheme, and the Japanese audio track will be available worldwide!
So, Shenmue I & II both physically and digitally, out in 2018, probably before Shenmue III arrives.
