Box art, collector’s edition for North America, and the like.
On the PlayStation Blog, Capcom announced why Leon looks younger than usual: they wanted to paint him as a rookie (and that’s what he was before Resident Evil 2’s events!), and for the sake of details, they recreated his costume that got digitalized, so it could change over the course of the game – and it will. After all, who would survive the Raccoon City zombie hordes in one piece?
Capcom did the same to Claire, and with her, the developers decided to shape Ms Redfield’s looks to be similar to her entry to Raccoon City (she came here to look for his brother, Chris, who we last saw in Resident Evil 7’s Not A Hero DLC!).
With Raccoon City, Capcom wanted to go for a sense of wetness, as well as the fear of the dark. (Don’t forget, Resident Evil 2 is happening on a rainy day!) Puddles, floods, as well as „areas are covered in the grotesque aftermath of clashes with the undead and other terrors lurking in the gloom” describe the city. With the zombies, Capcom went for a simple thought: they should look so monstrous that we don’t want them to bite us. They also utilised the two ideas from the city, too. After the box art, let’s discuss what the North American Collector’s Edition has. (Europe’s version will be announced at Gamescom – it was revealed by Capcom UK’s and Resident Evil’s community manager on Twitter):
Don’t worry EU friends… EU CE will be announced next month ?? https://t.co/LdMVtYTsPI

The box, which is shaped after the game’s famous item container chest, will cost 200 dollars, and will include the following:
„
- Full Game
- Special Deluxe Packaging
- Leon S. Kennedy (R.P.D. Version) Figure: An expertly-crafted 12-inch figure of Leon on his first day in his new RPD police uniform, re-created to mirror his in-game design down to the smallest details. A must-have for any Resident Evil fan or collector!
- “Ben’s File” Art Book: A 32-page book left behind by Ben Bertolucci, a freelance journalist who makes an appearance in Resident Evil 2. This file contains photos and files documenting events after the Raccoon City tragedy and was filed away as a highly confidential document by the U.S. government. It’s never been seen by the public… until now.
- Digital Soundtrack: A voucher code for a 25-track album featuring new songs from the remake of Resident Evil 2, as well as a selection of arrangements from the original game.
- “R.P.D.” Renovation Design Poster: A diagram reminiscent of blueprints, this poster illustrates how the building was renovated and transformed from a museum to a police facility when work was being done on the building in 1969.
- Extra DLC Pack Card (Leon Costume: “Arklay Sheriff”, Leon Costume: “Noir”, Claire Costume: “Military”, Claire Costume: “Noir”, Claire Costume: “Elza Walker”, Deluxe Weapon: “Samurai Edge – Albert Model”, “Original Version” Soundtrack Swap)
”
Resident Evil 2 Remake will launch on January 25 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Tsuyoshi Kanda, one of the producers, told Daily Star that the over-the-shoulder camera angle doesn’t suit VR, and thus, the game will not have VR-support.
