Daybreak Games, which previously got into a bit of scandal with Russian oligarchs, isn’t developing the „other half” of H1Z1, the PvE zombie game Just Survive anymore. (H1Z1 was previously split to two – the first half is just called H1Z1 at the moment, but formerly, it also had the King of the Kill subtitle.)
The developers announced on their website what the situation is: „After careful consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to sunset Just Survive on Wednesday, October 24 at 11 am PT (7 pm UK time). The excitement of the game’s promise was palpable, and its loyal community is still full of ideas for its future. Unfortunately, we are no longer in a position to fulfil its greatness, and the current population of the game makes it untenable to maintain. […]”
The rest of the post talks about the game’s history, and the devs also thank everyone for their involvement. Just Survive was the first Early Access project for Daybreak, and they say they learned a lot from it. The Steam purchases and the in-game microtransactions. If you think you should be refunded, you should check out this site.
So, H1Z1‘s early iteration is heading to the cemetery. Did the battle royale fad claim another game?
