Codemasters will not have VR support for the sequel of one of their most successful games in the past few years out of the box.
USGamer talked with Christina McGrath, the community manager of Codemasters, at a DiRT Rally 2.0 preview event in London. She said the following: „We’re focusing on making the core game experience before launch – and after that, if there is demand from our community, then we’ll explore the possibility [of VR].”
The first DiRT Rally’s VR support launched as a paid DLC, and it needed a year (or more) to become available after the game’s launch – the game’s PC version came out in December 2015, followed by the PlayStation 4/Xbox One ports in April 2016. The PlayStation VR/PC VR DLC arrived in February 2017.
However, DiRT Rally 2.0 will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, in February. The VR DLC might come in 2020 if it’s even getting developed.
