The Gaming Industry Is In The Skies; The Nintendo Switch Is Leading!

In November, all three consoles have sold as much as never before.

Let’s start with the Switch – Nintendo announced based on the American NPD Group analysis group that the Nintendo Switch has become the fastest-selling current-gen console – in that country, 8.7 million units were sold in 21 months. The big N is at the heights they haven’t been since 2011 with dollar and hardware sales. The eShop sales have increased by 105% over 2017, and there are several other games with decent sales (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: 4+ million, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: 5+ million, Super Mario Odyssey: 4.7+ million, and with the recently released titles, Super Mario Party 1.4 million, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!/Eevee! 2 million total). In Europe, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has become the best-selling Nintendo console game of all time.

NPD also reports that all three consoles (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch) sold over 1 million units in November – they all sold 1.3+ million, and the Switch has offset the other two platforms’ decreasing sales. The software sales have fallen by 15% year-on-year, like Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII launched in October, and not November. This game is the second fastest-selling game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with only WWII beating it. With Red Dead Redemption II and Spyro Reignited Trilogy, they sold better than predecessors. Here’s the top ten – the 2., 3., 8., 10. games do not include PC, while the 4., 5., 6. games exclude digital sales.

  1. Red Dead Redemption II
  2. Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII
  3. Battlefield V
  4. Fallout 76
  5. Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu
  6. Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee
  7. NBA 2K19

The Switch-Smash Ultimate duo is likely going to propel sales even higher in December.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
