TECH NEWS – Facebook has already changed here and there on iOS and Android, and it forecasts the change. The changes will not be small, but huge: Facebook is basically going to go against the usual trends nowadays, The Verge reports.
In the new design called FB5, Events and the Groups will get more emphasis – the latter has been moved (on mobile!) to the centre of the menu bar. The users will now get a personalized feed of updates from their groups, and they’ll also see recommendations to join new groups based on their interests. Facebook also says you’ll be able to post to any group you’re a part of via the News Feed after the changed become active.
Events are placed right next to Groups on the menu bar. Its map view is richer, allowing to see the events that you are interested in, as well as their proximity to each other. The concept behind it is to make it easy for users to find new events, as well as organize your calendar, plus quickly sift through events your friends are hosting (or what public ones are out there) – in short, Mark Zuckerberg wants you to go out and be there.
There’s also a new function called Meet New Friends. With it, Facebook is going back to its roots by helping people connect with strangers with shared interests (such as liking similar music, attending the same school, or working at the same company). It will be in the new design, too.
In short, the reading of the News Feed is over (although those who already ignored it will not be touched by it), but it won’t be gone – Facebook is just turning into a community-centric platform. After the iOS and the Android, computer users will get the redesign at a later date.
We’re curious how they will get monetization involved because we’re pretty sure they will allow us to promote our event for money. We’d bet money on it. Also, they should perhaps allow us to block page invites from people.
