Ghostbusters: The Video Game Might Be Getting A Remaster!

However, we have to clarify, this Ghostbusters is not the Ghostbusters you would think it is…

Ghostbusters: The Video Game came out in June 2009 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 2, Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo DS, followed by a PlayStation Portable version in October. This game is often called Ghostbusters 2, as the protagonists of the two films (Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson) borrowed their likenesses and voices to the game, which is set two years after the events of Ghostbusters II. This is possibly a reason why the game had significant successes a decade ago. (The same cannot be said about 2011’s Ghostbusters: The Sanctum of Slime, and 2016’s Ghostbusters. The latter was the sequel to the film released that year. From the two twin-stick shooters, the older one was more polished, as the 2016 game was made in just eight months by Fireforge Games, who have gone bankrupt just a few days after the game’s release. This game was their first and the last title, as they previously worked on two cancelled projects.)

Now, the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has rated something called Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered for the Xbox One. The developers are claimed to be Mad Dogs Games, who have been acquired by 2K Games. They previously worked on the NBA: Playground series, as well as Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn. There’s also a website, playghostbusters.com, but it isn’t active yet.

So it seems that something might be happening around „Ghostbusters 3.” A remaster doesn’t sound like a bad idea: the original game was excellent, and if it would come with the online component (allowing four people to play cooperatively together), it might be just as successful as it was a decade ago.

Hopefully, Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered will launch on the PlayStation 4, the PC, and maybe the Nintendo Switch as well. If it is planned to launch on the tenth anniversary of the original game’s launch, it might be out in mid-June, just around E3. (It would be an interesting move.)

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
