In the North American region, Nintendo Switch once again outsold the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

The NPD Group has published its May 2019 sales data, where we can easily notice how we are at the end of the current console generation, as year-on-year, the monthly spending was lower. (Software, hardware total: 641 million USD, -11%. The hardware showed a twenty, while the games showed a thirteen per cent fall compared to May 2018.) Hardware-wise, the Nintendo Switch has taken another month as the best-selling console, but this time, the big N’s portable platform wasn’t able to sell so well to stop the PlayStation 4‘s and the Xbox One‘s downfall.

On the games’ charts, the first place is interestingly uncontested after April: Mortal Kombat 11 somehow retained its lead. On the podium, we can find Days Gone and Total War: Three Kingdoms behind it. From the major May releases, RAGE 2 claimed fourth, while Team Sonic Racing only got the nineteenth (!) place. What is even more interesting is that Mortal Kombat 11 is also first on the best-sellers list of 2019 as well with just two months! NetherRealm Studios’ game is flying, it seems. Let’s see the complete top ten list:

June’s charts might look entirely different (but we don’t see the annual list changing significantly) – for example, Super Mario Maker 2 might push the Nintendo Switch even further, but there’s also Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch), or Samurai Shodown (PlayStation 4, Xbox One) that could mix up the list a bit. Hardware-wise, we don’t see the Switch losing its lead in June, though.
