Hideo Kojima finally revealed his next game’s box art, as well as its Steelbook art.
The PlayStation Blog had the announcement that Kojima has had at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), where he had a panel called Hideo Kojima: Master Storyteller. Here, he showed what Death Stranding‘s box art will have. It will feature Sam Bridges, „who must brave a world utterly transformed by the Death Stranding, and save mankind by reconnecting a fractured society.” Norman Reedus, Sam Bridges’ actor, is thus on the box. But the „Only on PlayStation” text is not. Hmm… Also, the Steelbook will be available in the 60 USD/EUR Special Edition, or the 200 USD/EUR Collector’s Edition. Kojima could have picked something better. We have taken the following photo from Gematsu‘s comment section. It looks much better, doesn’t it?
On Twitter, we can read that Hideo Kojima ended up choosing Mads Mikkelsen for the game, despite getting Keanu Reeves (who ended up in Cyberpunk 2077…) as a recommendation. „There’s no reason to create something that’s already there. I want to create something that gives more inspiration to the world. Like Hollywood movies where some don’t live with you, people just digest and consume. What I do is make something that’s difficult to chow down when you digest my work. What happens when I release my game or when Nicolas releases a movie, we get criticism or praise. But you think about it ten years later, same as Bladerunner or 2001: Space Odyssey,” Kojima said at SDCC. Nicolas here is Winding Refn, the writer, director, and producer of the Too Old to Die Young TV series, available on Amazon Prime. He will show up in Death Stranding as well as Heartman. „When I first started Kojima Productions [second time – he had this name under Konami, too… – the editor], the easiest thing for me to do would have been to make a game where everyone is on an island and shoots each other,” Kojima sneakily dissed the battle royale games.
Death Stranding is out on November 8, exclusively on PlayStation 4.
