One Lawsuit Ends For Randy Pitchford

While the head of Gearbox still has legal issues because of Duke Nukem 3D World Tour, at least the case against his former legal counsel has ended.

The case between Randy Pitchford and Wade Callender has been going for a long-time – Hollywood Reporter recapped it: the case started in late 2018 when Callender claimed that Pitchford and Gearbox did not pay him for his services, while Gearbox retaliated by saying Callender’s loan and personal legal fees were covered by him and that he „abused” a corporate credit card on unapproved expenses. Gearbox wouldn’t be Gearbox if it didn’t have a personal touch to it: they claim that Callender used the card for „trying to get six-pack abs,” to which he responded by saying Pitchford „siphoned Gearbox profit to pay for Peacock Parties, in which adult men have reportedly exposed themselves to minors.” (He also claimed that Pitchford’s pendrive has child pornographic content, too.) The case went forward by Callender saying Gearbox did not provide the court with the required documents (for which they could have faced sanctions).

The contempt hearing should have been on September 25, but the lawsuit ended prematurely. Pitchford and Callender filed for their respective cases against each other to be dismissed with prejudice, saying that they „have resolved all claims between them.” They both will pay for their legal costs.

„Upon review of all the evidence in the case, it was of the opinion of counsel that the evidence exonerated Randy Pitchford from the allegations against him; all misunderstandings between the parties have been corrected, and apologies were exchanged. Because the parties are mutually bound by confidentiality, no additional statements will be forthcoming,” the dismissal statement in the filing says.

So Pitchford can tick one, but now, he has to face Robert „Bobby” Prince: he filed a lawsuit against the Gearbox-Pitchford-Valve trio for Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour, as it has music composed by him for Duke Nukem 3D without permission. (We wrote about it in detail before.)
