According to new rumours, the Japanese company is working on no less than two Silent Hill games.

We have quoted AestheticGamer yesterday about the development situation of Resident Evil 8. However, the insider that correctly leaked information about Resident Evil 3 Remake before its announcement, let’s see what he wrote on Twitter about the other pioneer of the survival horror franchises. „I’ll mention there are a couple new Silent Hill games in the works. Konami about two years ago reached out to various developers to pitch ideas for two Silent Hill games, one a soft-reboot of the franchise, the other an episodic TellTale/Until Dawn-style game to go alongside the reboot. I don’t know anything more than that though, but I sure do hope Konami’s given it the appropriate budget and found the right developer to make those games succeed. This is just a guess, but I’d say there’s a high chance one or both of those titles may be revealed this year, but we’ll see. I don’t know their plans or anything about these games other than their existence though, I don’t know much about the inner workings of Konami,” he wrote. A soft reboot doesn’t wipe the universe and the events in it. It just provides a new entry point. A film example could be the 2014 Robocop movie.

Why did Konami decide as such? The answer is simple: a rival publisher, Capcom, has had success with Resident Evil 2 Remake (and Resident Evil 3 Remake will likely also surpass the sales of the original), and Konami wants to profit off of the mini-renaissance of the survival horror genre. (Let’s hope they’ll do it without microtransactions. In Metal Gear: Survive, you had to pay ten dollars for a second save slot.)

Keep in mind: nothing is official yet! Take it with a grain of salt. (But who could be developing the episodic Silent Hill? It would be a big surprise if it was the revived Telltale under LCG.)
