Take-Two and Rockstar timed when the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series will receive the two games that originally arrived in 2013.
It’s no joke: in September 2013, the first generation of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In November 2014, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One followed. Then, in April 2015, the PC also got the games we tend to simply call GTA V and GTA Online. The former has sold so well that only Minecraft managed to ever sell more copies than this.
And because of this, it’s not surprising to see Rockstar announce that on November 11, Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online will launch on PlayStation 5/Xbox Series. The standalone GTA Online will be there on both PlayStation and Xbox, but on PlayStation, it will be free for three months from launch. Also, PlayStation Plus subscribers on PlayStation 4 will now get one million GTA dollars per month up until the PlayStation 5 launch.
„The new generation versions of Grand Theft Auto V will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades, and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever,” a Rockstar representative told GameSpot.
Rockstar also teased something for Grand Theft Auto Online players, so it might get some historic updates, as the company will celebrate Grand Theft Auto III’s 20th anniversary on October 22 (if it’s not GTAO-related, will GTA III get a remaster?). This summer’s Grand Theft Auto Online updates will include special benefits for players to take advantage of in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions upon release.
More of the same, but at least the loading times will be nearly eliminated.
