The Gamescom Awards 2021 crowned FromSoftware’s RPG, which also won the People’s Choice Award.
Elden Ring is Gamescom 2021‘s big winner – twice over. Firstly, Hidetaka Miyazaki and FromSoftware‘s ambitious open-world RPG was voted the best game of the show by the judges. On the other hand, Elden Ring also won the award for the game most wanted by fans. Its popularity was unquestionable, but its success with critics and players was no less impressive.
We finally have the complete list of winners for the Gamescom Awards 2021, announced one by one between Wednesday 25 and Sunday 29 August. The first awards were announced during Gamescom 2021 Opening Night Live, focusing on platforms. The following two days saw the winners announced by genre and category before the audience vote awards were handed out on Sunday.
Elden Ring triumphed, with Bandai Namco taking the award for Best Catalogue. Alongside Bandai, the other big winner at Gamescom was the new Saints Row, which won the award for best advert for the show and the best trailer for the opening gala. But it had to compete with wonders such as a DokeV trailer that also impressed everyone.
