With the new Nintendo, you’ll notice the difference between the new screen and the improved sound. The adjustable stand and dock are also unique.
With just a week to go, the brand new Nintendo Switch OLED is in stores. We recently got our first impressions from a Japanese YouTuber, but now we’ve got more information direct from America from the owners of the Nintendo Prime channel. A new unboxing of the big N’s next console comes with a game comparison between the first consoles. A head-to-head battle of the same title running on this hardware and the standard version of the platform.
The comparison between the two editions of the platform is made with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. As expected, the screen is the most striking difference in the re-release of Nintendo’s current console: 7 inches versus 6.2 and 5.5 inches for the standard and Lite versions, respectively.
However, the video also mentions an improvement in the sound, as the Nintendo Switch OLED features improved speakers that we don’t get to enjoy on other console editions. It’s hard to reveal this in a single video, but we’ll certainly be getting more impressions on this subject in the coming weeks.
Beyond these points, however, there are no significant changes. Nintendo itself has made it clear that the OLED model shows no significant internal differences from existing console versions. Still, it’s worth noting the other changes we already know about, such as the adjustable stand and the new dock, which includes a direct port for Ethernet cables.
The Nintendo Switch OLED will be launched on 8 October, the same day we will also enjoy the premiere of Metroid Dread in Mexico and Latin America, but this platform will arrive a little later.
