Starfield Will Have More Than 150,000 Lines of Dialogue: a Script Twice the Size of Skyrim

Starfield, Todd Howard’s, and Bethesda’s space adventure will arrive in 2022, exclusively on Xbox platforms.

There is no doubt that Starfield is one of the most anticipated games of the moment. Announced many years ago with a teaser as cryptic as it is brief, Bethesda’s new bet is a space RPG that will be released exclusively for Xbox platforms and will debut precisely 11 years after the launch of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. On the occasion of the current Tokyo Game Show 2021, Todd Howard has appeared during the Xbox broadcast to talk about his game, where he has dropped fascinating data.

Starfield will have more than 150,000 lines of dialogue. How much text does that mean? As we cannot measure its dimensions on soccer fields, we will tell you that Starfield’s script will be more than twice the size of Skyrim’s …. and it will also be superior to Fallout 4, by far. To be more precise, and as Nibel shares on Twitter, Fallout 4 had 111,000 lines, while Skyrim had “just” 60,000 lines of dialogue.

We can’t say that more dialogue necessarily equates to more hours of playtime, but based on the numbers alone, it looks like Starfield will be one of Bethesda’s most ambitious adventures to date. Back at the Tokyo Game Show 2021, Todd Howard stepped onto the scene to announce that Starfield will be fully translated into Japanese, both in voice and text, just like Arkane Studios’ upcoming Redfall.

A piece of news that will interest the Japanese public more than ours, but that shows the current emphasis of Xbox to conquer the Japanese market. Starfield will debut on November 11, 2022, on Xbox Series X and S and PC, available on the go with Xbox Game Pass. The Microsoft service just received the arrival of Scarlet Nexus today along with two more games, also announced during the Tokyo fair, a catalogue that you can subscribe to for 1 euro the first month.
