MOVIE NEWS – Disney also announces postponement of ‘Doctor Stranger’ and ‘Black Panther’ sequels.
Disney has announced the postponement of the release date of several of its projects. Among them, Indiana Jones 5, whose launch was scheduled for July 29, 2022, and which will now take almost one more year to reach theatres: the new release date of Indiana Jones 5 will be June 30, 2023.
Indiana Jones 5 was originally going to be released in July 2019 with Steven Spielberg directing. The date later changed to July 2020. The director, James Mangold ( Logan ), would replace Spielberg in the realisation tasks with the consequent postponement, in theory, to July 2021.
The pandemic caused the release of Indiana Jones 5 to be postponed to July 2022. The movie’s filming began last June and, despite Harrison Ford’s injury in the first weeks of filming, the premiere of Indiana Jones 5 was still set for the summer of 2022. Now we will have to wait another year to see the fifth instalment of Indiana Jones, the hero to take off his hat that we saw in Spain for the first time 40 years ago.
The change of date of other releases of the Marvel universe implies a much shorter wait than that of Indiana Jones 5. Doctor Strange 2: In the Multiverse of Madness goes from March 25 to May 6, 2022; Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, from July 8 to November 11, 2022; Thor: Love and Thunder, from May 6 to July 8, 2022; The Marvels is delayed from November 11, 2022, to February 17, 2023; Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, February 17 to July 28, 2023.
The Eternals and Spider-Man: No Road Home keep their release dates for November 5 and December 17, 2021, respectively.
