Rumours have it that Quantic Dream’s Star Wars project will be set in the High Republic, an era that pre-dates the events of the prequel trilogy by roughly 1-300 years and is primarily depicted in comics and novels.
Venture Beat insider Jeff Grubb hinted at the High Republic era on his podcast about the GamingLeaks subreddit, Grubbsnax. According to him, Disney has been heavily promoting the period lately, given that several series of novels and comics set in the period are currently running. However, the game’s plot will presumably not be too far removed from the era of the original trilogy but will take place roughly a hundred years before it. Grubb also revealed that the game could be called Star Wars Eclipse.
As Quantic Dream’s Star Wars title has not yet been officially announced, very little is known about it at the moment, and what is known should be treated with strong reservations. It is rumoured that this game will be different from the studio’s recent titles, as it will feature a more traditional action and combat system. This is in line with the studio’s recent job announcement, which confirmed that they are indeed working on an action-adventure game.
If all this proves true, Quantic Dream could announce Star Wars Eclipse as early as the 2021 Game Awards on 10 December.
