11 bit Studios, which made a name for itself with This War of Mine, has signed a deal with Epic Games to use its graphics engine for ten unannounced games.
As successful as This War of Mine was – it became a school textbook in Poland! – Epic’s graphics engine has earned the community’s admiration just as much, with the Unreal Engine reaching heights approaching hyper-realism. Developers quickly realised its potential, and 11 Bit, the war-survival game focused on saving civilians, best known for making This War of Mine, signed a contract with Epic to use the Unreal Engine in its next 10(!) games.
The fact is, the potential of an engine like Unreal Engine 5 opens up a thousand doors for game developers, so 11 bit CEO Przemyslaw Marszal was quick to welcome the news:
“The new fifth-generation technology is fantastic!”
“We are excited to fully exploit its potential in our new games. What we’re doing is totally unreal [Unreal, haha]!”
To give you more news on all that could come from the collaboration between Unreal Engine and 11 bit Studios, the development studio shared a short video showing a sneak peek of the visuals for their yet-to-be-announced game “Project 8”. The power of the graphics engine is on full display in this extremely short but impressive demonstration – all of which will be expanded upon as we learn more about the upcoming game.
Of course, the Unreal Engine should be a great addition for the developers of 11 bit: as great storytellers as the makers of This War of Mine and Frostpunk are, it’s easy to imagine what the studio can do with hyper-realistic graphics. The result of this collaboration could be significant for the industry as a whole.
