Sloclap has teamed up with a French publisher to make a shelf-stable edition of Sifu, a game based on the kung-fu fighting style.
Sifu has already caused a surprise or two recently, as Sloclap, the game’s development team, revealed that it will be hitting the PlayStation Store and the Epic Games Store two weeks earlier than previously planned, because after pushing the launch to 2022 over the summer, a period created at the end of February: the studio didn’t want to compete against AAA titles such as Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring, and we can understand why…
So Sloclap will be hitting the shelves with Sifu via Microids, but it will be later than the digital launch, as the discs are scheduled to be released in the spring. No exact date is known, but perhaps early to mid-March seems logical, and by then, the French publisher will be able to gauge the demand for the disc version from digital sales.
The game’s key features include “The hunt for your enemies will take you through the hidden corners of the city, from the gang-ridden suburbs to the cold hallways of the corporate towers. You have got one day and countless enemies on your way. Careful positioning and clever use of the environment to your advantage are crucial to your survival. Use everything at your disposal: throwable objects, makeshift weapons, windows and ledges… For every mistake, time will be the price to pay.
The odds are stacked against you, and you will be offered no mercy. Kung Fu is mastery through practice, a path for both the body and the mind. Learn from your errors, unlock unique skills, and find the strength within yourself to master the devastating techniques of Pak-Mei Kung-Fu,” according to Sloclap.
Sifu launches digitally on PlayStation 5, PC and PlayStation 4 on February 8, with a disc version coming in the spring.
