If you dreamed of a Remake of the Mortal Kombat trilogy on Nintendo Switch, you might want to check out Eyeballistic’s request
This same team reached out to series co-creator Ed Boon in 2016 with Mortal Kombat HD. While he agreed, Warner Bros. (the owner of the Mortal Kombat IP) didn’t have much faith in the project and presumably wasn’t convinced that the game would sell more than 100,000 units worldwide.
Now that Eyeballistic has become a legitimate development group, securing and signing contracts to produce games for multiple platforms, they want to give it another shot, so they decided to petition on Change.org. There’s also the proof of concept above to go with it (it looks fantastic, though).
The petition has already passed 15,000 signatures, and although there’s a target of 25,000 on the website, the team says it’s looking for 100,000 supporters in total. There is also a social media campaign promoting the hashtag. #BBMKT – “bring back the Mortal Kombat trilogy”.
15K signatures to #BBMKT? Damn, you guys are amazing! I promised a little something special and here it is:

Eyeballistic goes on to explain how it has enhanced its online backlinking technology with some proprietary technologies to improve the GGPO further and facilitate playback over long distances. To achieve this, it will use Epic’s online services, which will also allow the game to support cross-play and give it the opportunity to be welcomed by the FGC tournament scene.
In addition, the developer will “painstakingly recreate every detail of every setting and character” in glorious 3D. This includes fatality, brutality, friendliness and animality. Characters and levels will also receive a 4K makeover on supported platforms, and there will be 60fps gameplay, with plans to power the title with Unreal Engine 5. All music will also receive the remake treatment.
“Target platforms for release would be Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, PS5 and PC. We anticipate the game would cost $39.99 and it would include everything the original MK Trilogy had plus the standard online match making and world wide leaderboards. If you want this remake to happen, please show your support by signing the petition. When we reach 100,000 supporters we’ll approach WB with a plan to use crowdfunding to further demonstrate that the game will sell like crazy!”
